Abstract

The research aimed to identify the level of Machiavellian personality and research self-efficacy, as well as the correlation between them. It also sought to reveal the differences in Machiavellian personality and research self-efficacy according to the variables of gender and academic degree.The researcher used the descriptive correlational approach. The research sample consisted of 103 male and female graduate students, from universities in the Gaza Strip. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the Machiavellian Personality Scale, prepared by (Dahling et al., 2009), and developed the Research Self-Efficacy Scale.The results of the study showed that the level of Machiavellian personality was moderate, while the level of research self-efficacy was high. The findings also revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between Machiavellian personality and research self-efficacy.The results indicated statistically significant differences in Machiavellian personality according to the gender variable in favor of males, and no statistically significant differences according to the academic degree variable. On the other hand, the results showed statistically significant differences in research self-efficacy according to the gender variable in favor of males, and statistically significant differences according to the academic degree variable in favor of doctoral students. The study recommends the need for educational interventions in universities on the importance of students to receive guidance that fosters objectivity, integrity, and research collaboration.

الملخص

هدف البحث التعرف إلى مستوى الشخصية الميكافيلية، والكفاءة الذاتية البحثية، والعلاقة الارتباطية بينهما. والكشف عن الفروق في الشخصية الميكافيلية، والكفاءة الذاتية البحثية، تبعًًا لمتغيري الجنس، والدرجة العلمية. واستعمل الباحث المنهج الوصفي الارتباطي. وتألفت عينة الدراسة من (103 ) طالبًًا، وطالبة من طلبة الدراسات العليا في الجامعات بقطاع غزة. ولتحقيق أهداف البحث استعمل الباحث مقياس الشخصية الميكافيلية، من إعداد ( Dahling et al., 2009)، وتطوير مقياس الكفاءة الذاتية البحثية. أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن مستوى الشخصية الميكافيلية جاء بدرجة متوسطة. في حين جاء مستوى الكفاءة الذاتية البحثية بدرجة مرتفعة. وبينت النتائج وجود علاقة طردية دالة إحصائيًًا بين الشخصية الميكافيلية، والكفاءة الذاتية البحثية. وأشارت النتائج إلى وجود فروق دالة إحصائيًًا في الشخصية الميكافيلية تبعًًا لمتغير الجنس لصالح الذكور، وعدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائيًًا تبعًًا لمتغير الدرجة العلمية. ومن جانبٍٍ آخر بينت النتائج وجود فروق دالة إحصائيًًا في الكفاءة الذاتية البحثية وفقًًا لمتغير الجنس لصالح الذكور، ووجود فروق دالة إحصائيًًا وفقًًا لمتغير الدرجة العلمية لصالح طلبة الدكتوراة. وتوصي الدراسة بضرورة إجراء تدخلات تربوية في الجامعات على أهمية تلقي الطلبة توجيهات تنمي من الموضوعية، والنزاهة، والتعاون البحثي.
