Authors' Guidelines

Submission Instructions

The following guidelines must be adhered to, and manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements will not be considered for publication in this journal:

  1. The research paper should not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere once it has been sent to JEPS. Authors must ensure the manuscript is not submitted to any other publication until they receive a decision from JEPS regarding its status.
  2. The submitted manuscript must not be part of a book, a book chapter, or any previously published work.
  3. Any paper published or under consideration for publication in JEPS may be republished in other journals only after obtaining written permission from the editor. In such cases, the original publication in JEPS should be acknowledged.
  4. JEPS retains the copyright to its published materials.
  5. JEPS reserves the right to request the removal or modification of any part of the manuscript in accordance with the journal’s publishing policies.
  6. The Editorial Board of JEPS has the authority to review, organize, and prioritize manuscripts based on journal policies.
  7. Authors must uphold academic integrity and accurately cite all sources in both the text and the reference list. Authors will be held legally responsible for any breaches of academic integrity after the manuscript is published.
  8. Citations and references should follow the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition format.
  9. Authors must submit the search tools used in a separate file and specify any sources of research support (if applicable).
  10. The manuscript should be grammatically correct in both Arabic and English and should be reviewed by a language specialist.
  11. Authors must provide translations for all Arabic references included in their paper. Two separate lists of references (Arabic and English) should be submitted for papers written in Arabic.
  12. Authors will receive an electronic copy (PDF) of the issue in which their paper is published.

Before Submission

Please ensure that your manuscript meets the following requirements:

  1. Your manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under review by any other journal or conference proceedings.
  2. The work complies with all research ethics guidelines. If the study involves human or animal subjects, a separate "Ethics Approval" section must be included.
  3. The manuscript is written in acceptable English and is free from grammatical and spelling mistakes.
  4. The manuscript has been formatted according to the provided template (Manuscript Template).
  5. Your figures are of adequate quality and uploaded as separate files.
  6. The references are correctly formatted and numbered according to their order of appearance in the text. Please indicate the reference style used.
  7. Only manuscripts of appropriate quality that align with the aims and scope of the journal will be considered for review.
  8. Manuscripts must adhere to the journal's submission guidelines listed below.

Note: Submissions that fail to adhere to these criteria will either be rejected outright or returned to the author for revision before proceeding to the peer review process.

Online Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors through the Editorial Manager (EM) Submission System, following the submissions instructions in this page. Only Word (.doc, .docx, .rtf) files are accepted, and there is no limit on the number of pages. Submissions from anyone other than one of the authors will not be considered. The submitting author is responsible for the manuscript throughout the submission and peer review process. If technical issues prevent submission through EM, the author may contact for assistance.

Initial Evaluation

All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editorial Office to ensure they are properly prepared and comply with the journal's ethical policies. Manuscripts that do not meet the ethical standards or the journal's guidelines will be rejected prior to peer review. Incomplete manuscripts or those not formatted according to the journal's requirements will be returned to the authors without scientific evaluation. After this preliminary review, the Editorial Office will consult with the Editor-in-Chief to determine if the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope and scientific standards. Manuscripts with insufficient priority for publication will be promptly rejected. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts in clear, well-written English (American English is accepted). The Editor reserves the right to reject manuscripts based on language quality, and such decisions will be verified by the Editor-in-Chief.

Submission Declaration and Verification

By submitting a research article for publication, you must affirm and guarantee that:

  1. You have received permission from all coauthors to submit the article;
    • (a) You are the sole author(s) and have the legal right to submit the article and authorize the journal to publish it. If the article must be published in the public domain, you will inform the journal at submission.
    • (b) The article is original, has not been previously published in any journal (medical or otherwise), and is not under consideration by another journal. It does not violate any copyright or legal rights.
    • (c) The article does not contain anything unlawful, defamatory, or in violation of any contracts or confidentiality agreements.
    • (d) You have exercised due diligence and performed all necessary checks to ensure the accuracy of the article. To the best of your knowledge, all factual claims are true and correct.

Article Structure

The manuscript should be organized in the following order:

  1. Title Page
  2. Abstract, Keywords
  3. Introduction
  4. Materials and Methods (Experimental, Methodology, or Patients and Methods)
  5. Results
  6. Discussion (Results and Discussion can be combined into one section)
  7. Conclusion
  8. Acknowledgments

  13. Figures

Title Page

The title page must include the following information in both English and Arabic:

  1. Title: The title should be brief, clear, and descriptive. It should avoid references to literature, compound numbers, or non-standard abbreviations. The title should be centered, written in Times New Roman, 14-point font, in boldface.
  2. Authors and Affiliations: Provide full names, including given names, middle initials, and family names for clear identification. The names should be centered beneath the title and typed in Times New Roman, 11-point font, non-italicized, and bold. Use superscript lowercase letters to indicate different affiliations, which should be as detailed as possible, including department, faculty/college, university, city with postal code or P.O. Box, and country. The primary affiliation should reflect the institution where most of the author’s work was conducted. If an author has moved, the current address may also be included, but affiliations will not be updated after the article is published.
  3. Corresponding Author: The corresponding author should be marked with an asterisk, and their contact details (telephone, fax, and email) should be provided in a footnote. If available, include the 16-digit ORCID of the corresponding author.

The title, author names, and affiliations in Arabic should appear in the same order on a separate page in the same file.

Short Running Title: A short running title (running head) should not exceed 80 characters.

Abstract

The abstract should be concise, free of citations, and limited to 300 words. It should briefly describe the study's objective, the methods used, the key findings, and the primary conclusions drawn from the results. Any uncommon abbreviations should be defined upon first use. The abstract should be typed in Times New Roman, 9-point font, non-italicized, and non-bold.

Keywords

Provide 4 to 6 keywords, separated by semicolons, in Times New Roman, 10-point font, non-italicized, and non-bold.

Introduction

This section should be concise, without subheadings. Authors should clearly state the significance of the work and justify its publication. Any background information should be brief and relevant to the study.

Materials and Methods (Experimental, Methodology, or Patients and Methods)

This section should provide enough detail to allow for replication of the procedures. It can be organized into subsections if multiple methods are discussed. Authors should aim for conciseness when describing experiments. The section must include all necessary information to ensure reproducibility. References should be provided for previously published methods, with only relevant modifications detailed. Vendor information, such as company name, city, and country, must be listed for chemicals, reagents, strains, etc. For statistical analysis, specify the tests used, along with the hypothesized p-value or significance level (e.g., 0.05).

Results and Discussion

These sections should be combined. The results should be presented clearly and succinctly. Use tables and figures sparingly, only for essential data that aids in conveying the study’s message. The results should be logically structured in the text, tables, and illustrations. The discussion should focus on the significance of the results, not merely repeat them. It should address the implications of the findings, their limitations, how they compare with other relevant research, and suggest directions for future studies.

Conclusion

Summarize the main conclusion(s) of the study in a brief statement, highlighting the objectives of the research and its significance. If applicable, propose new hypotheses and offer recommendations.

Acknowledgments

Any acknowledgments should be placed at the end of the manuscript, just before the references. Individuals who contributed to the research or manuscript but are not listed as authors should be acknowledged (with their consent).

References

Cite references within the text using Arabic numerals in brackets, following the order of appearance (Vancouver style). For example, [4] or [7-10, 13, 15]. While you can mention the authors by name, the corresponding reference number(s) must always be provided.

Figures

Figures and tables should not be submitted as separate files. If the article is accepted, authors will be asked to provide the source files for the figures. Each figure should be uploaded in a separate electronic file. All figures should be cited in the manuscript in numerical order. Figures should be submitted in vector art formats (such as Illustrator, EPS, WMF, FreeHand, CorelDraw, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) or bitmap formats (such as Photoshop, TIFF, GIF, JPEG, etc.). Bitmap images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi unless a lower resolution is intentionally used for scientific purposes. If labels are included in a bitmap image, they should be placed in separate layers from the image itself. Figures should be referred to as Fig. 1, Figs. 2, 3-5, using Arabic numerals, and parts of figures should be labeled with lowercase letters (a, b, c, etc.).

Tables

Tables should be cited in consecutive order within the text. Each table must include a descriptive title, and if numerical measurements are provided, the units must be specified in the column headings. Vertical lines should be avoided. Figure and table captions should be in 9-point Times New Roman, bold, and non-italicized. Only the first word of the caption should be capitalized. Figure captions should be placed below the figures, while table titles should be aligned fully to the right and left above the table.

Nomenclature and Units

All measurements and data should be presented in SI units whenever possible, or in other internationally accepted units in parentheses throughout the text. Tables and illustrations should use conventional units, with conversion factors provided in legends or footnotes.

Statements & Declarations

The following statements must be included in your manuscript under the heading "Statements and Declarations," which should appear after the References section. Manuscripts lacking the required statements will be returned as incomplete.

Funding

Please disclose any funding sources that supported the research. The statement should include the names of funding agencies and grant numbers, if applicable. Example statements:

  • “This research was supported by [Funding Agency Name] (Grant numbers [X] and [Y]). Author A.B. received research support from [Company Name].”
  • “The authors declare no financial support was received during the preparation of this manuscript.”

Competing Interests

Authors must disclose any relevant interests that could be seen as conflicts of interest. They should explain how each interest may be perceived as a conflict. If there are no conflicts, authors should explicitly state this. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring that co-authors declare their interests as well.

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial interests that could directly or indirectly influence the submitted work. Any relevant interests from the past 3 years should be disclosed, and interests outside this period must also be declared if they could reasonably be seen as affecting the work. Example statements:

  • “Financial interests: Authors A and B declare no financial conflicts. Author C received honoraria and research funding from Company M.”
  • “The authors declare no competing financial or non-financial interests.”

Author Contributions

Authors are encouraged to specify each author's role in the research and manuscript preparation. Example statement:

“All authors contributed to the study's conception and design. Data collection and analysis were carried out by [Author A], [Author B], and [Author C]. The first draft was written by [Author D], and all authors provided feedback on earlier versions. All authors approved the final manuscript.”

Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to include a statement on data availability, detailing where data supporting the findings can be found, including links to publicly available datasets if applicable. If data is not available, please specify whether it can be requested from the authors. Example statements:

  • “The datasets generated during the study are available in the [Name] repository at [Link].”
  • “Data are available upon reasonable request from the corresponding author.”

Ethics Approval

For research involving human or animal subjects, authors should confirm approval from the relevant institutional and/or national ethics committee, including the name and reference number of the committee if available. Example statement:

  • “This study adhered to the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki. Approval was granted by the Ethics Committee of University B (Date/Ref. No.).”
  • “This observational study did not require ethics approval, as confirmed by the XYZ Research Ethics Committee.”

For research involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained, and a statement should be included in the manuscript. Example statements:

  • “Informed consent was obtained from all participants in the study.”
  • “Written consent was obtained from the parents of the children involved.”

For studies involving individual data (e.g., images, videos), consent for publication must be obtained from the participants or their guardians, particularly for case studies. Example statement:

  • “The authors confirm that informed consent for publication was obtained from all participants for the images in Figure(s) 1a, 1b, and 1c.”

Revised Manuscripts

Revised manuscripts must be submitted within one month of receiving the editorial decision. Authors should address each reviewer comment with corresponding revisions or responses. Disagreements with reviewer comments should be justified. Any changes in the manuscript should be highlighted for ease of re-evaluation.

After Acceptance

Once the manuscript is accepted, it will be typeset. Authors will receive proofs for review once the typesetting is complete.

Peer Review

All manuscripts undergo peer review to meet academic standards. If accepted by the editor, manuscripts are reviewed by anonymous peer reviewers. The editorial board makes the final decision based on reviewers' recommendations. In some cases, the Research Integrity team may seek external advice for manuscripts with significant ethical, security, or societal implications. This may involve recruiting specialized reviewers or consulting additional editors.

Article Publishing Charge

There are no Article Processing Charges (APC) for publication of the journal on all submissions.
